37-Mile Ride: Fairfax to Nicasio Loop
Details
Added by Matt Moser
37-miles of rolling hills, passing Nicasio Reservoir and riding through historic Pt. Reyes Station. 1,520 ft of elevation gain spread over 4 climbs. Reward yourself at Gestalt Haus with some beers and brats.
For this scenic loop, start at the Corner of Broadway Blvd and Bolinas Rd. Head north on Broadway until it connects with Sir Francis Drake Blvd ("SFD"). Take SFD / Marin County Bicycle Rte 20 northwest until it connects with Nicasio Valley Rd at Maurice Thorner Memorial Preserve. Take a right and head northwest on Nicasio Valley Rd. This stretch will take you around Nicasio Reservoir toward Pt. Reyes Station. On the northeast side of Nicasio Reservoir, you'll connect with Pt. Reyes Petaluma Rd. Head West on Pt. Reyes Petaluma Rd, which will lead you to Pt. Reyes Station. After passing Pt. Reyes Station, head south on Highway 1 into Pt. Reyes National Seashore. Here, you'll meet back up with SFD, which will take you to your end point. And by end point, we mean a steady climb over the last 13 miles to a very rewarding finish point at Gestalt Haus for some beers and brats (there's vegan sausages too if that's more your speed).

Found this ride via 7x7 and either I took us the wrong way, or the description is wrong. Beware of HILLS. Our ride tracker showed that we did almost 3000ft in elevation gain. Still an amazing ride but quite strenuous.
3.0
For a refuel, blast through to Bovine Bakery or cowgirl creamery in Pt. Reyes station.
Head out from SF to make this an 80+ mile loop. Experienced cyclists may want to take the 1 South through Bolinas/Stinson/Muir Beach
