Glen Camp is well protected in a valley, but it is only a short(ish) hike from Arch Rock and Wildcat Camp, so this provides amazing coastal views on hikes and a secluded campsite to return to at the end of the day.
This hike begins at the Bear Valley trailhead. Take Bear Valley trail to Glen trail, and then Glen Camp Loop. The hike in is about 5.5 miles, with an uphill section at the end. I find that the best campsite at Glen Camp is site #1 because it has the most space and is in a nice location. From Glen Camp, you can hike to Arch Rock by Coast Trail. Although the arch collapsed a few years ago, the hike is scenic and there is an amazing beach with beautiful rock formations. If you take a small steep trail down to the river, you can make it out to the beach if the river is dry enough. From Glen Camp, you can also hike to Wildcat Camp on the coast and walk down the beach to Alamere Falls, which flows into the ocean.
