California's Most Famous Bridge: Bixby Bridge

Monterey, California

Description

Added by Pine Watt

Bixby Bridge spans a massive canyon. from the moment you glimpse Bixby Bridge perhaps shrouded in fog, you are immediately struck by how the design seems to meld with the surrounding hillside, yet accentuate the nature beauty of the windswept hills. Bixby Bridge is a the gatekeeper for the northern entrance to the Big Sur and 70 miles of stunning, dangerous coastline.

Located 15 miles south of the quaint town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Bixby Bridge is impossible to miss, well be cause it is the only bridge on the only road in the area. Simply drive south and prepare to be stunned. There is limited parking on either side of the bridge so be careful, when pulling off the road. During peak holidays there can be alot of traffic. The northern side of the bridge offers much better views of the bridge, although the south side of the bridge is less photographed and explored. Your pick.
