This is a beautiful hike. Unfortunately, three years ago a hunting party has blocked the way described. The only way in now is to take the highland trail for five miles. It has no water until you get to the river. It is unfortunate that the forest service sold the land and allowed it to be blocked with a barbed wire fence.
