Amazing kiteboarding in the Colombia River. With good wind, launching and landing beaches, and great atmosphere.

The Colombia river runs along the boarder of Washington and Oregon, when kiteboarding here you have many options for launching and landing both on the Oregon side and the Washington side. Beaches like "Rufus", "Viento", and "White Salmon River Mouth" can provide more advanced conditions and trickier launching and landing. The "Event Site" on the Oregon side located in Hood River is the most popular and beginner friendly beach to launch and land from. Depending on river depth there will be a convenient sandbar located just bellow the grassy hill where windsurfers launch from. This sandbar allows for spacious launching and landing, and after your session shops like "The Sandbar Cafe" can provide you with delicious riverside meals and snacks. The experience level in The Gorge ranges from extreme beginner to professionals who call Hood River home.
