Cape Lookout is a two-mile long peninsula that juts into the Pacific Ocean from Oregon's rugged coastline.

The park features more than 170 campsites, yurts, rustic cabins, and a day-use area, all located a short walk from the beach.

There are roughly 10 miles of trails ranging from easy to moderate. The 2.6 mile trail to the tip of the Cape is the most scenic and offers views of migrating whales in spring and fall.

Great little hike. There are nice spots along the lookout to plop down and enjoy a picnic and if the seasons right watch the whales.

My husband and I decided on this little adventure after seeing it on Outdoor Projects Best Day Hikes in Oregon. It was such a great first hike out here. Awesome views of the coast to the North and the south. Super sweet cliff drop offs to make your stomach flip a little. :) it was early February when we went so the trail was a little muddy, but I'd suspect that has since dried up. Not a difficult trail at all. Lots of weaving from one side of the cape to another so you don't feel a significant elevation change. And when you're done, drive into Pacific City and grab a bite to eat and a beer at Pelican Brewery and watch the sunset behind the haystack at Cape Kiwanda.

Overall, very unimpressed with this hike. However, at the end, if you opt just jump over the fence, you can go down to a cove at the bottom which has waves splashing all around it. This was very cool, but not easy to get to and extreme caution should be taken.

This was an amazing trail for a run. The views of the ocean and beaches were incredible and not too many people.
