Located near Cashiers, NC is a wonderful hiking haven called Panthertown Valley located within the Nantahala National Forest. There are many other hikes that are located within Panthertown but this is one of my favorites with multiple locations of great views and many encounters with water and even a swimming hole.
This hike has it all… views, waterfalls, and swimming. Start on Blackrock Trail. When you reach Blackrock Mountain head down the side trail to get on to head north on Powerline Road Trail. When you get to the fork in the trail stay right onto Riding Ford Trail. You will come to water on Riding Ford trail. Take a right (south) onto Devils Elbow trail. You will come to a small fall and swimming hole here. Then continue uphill onto Little Green Trail. At the top of the climb you will have an amazing view of the forest. Continue on Little Green down the mountain. Take a right on Macs Gap. When you get to Panthertown Valley Trail take a left to head back to parking.
