Photograph the Benjamin Franklin Bridge
Apart from Penn's Landing being a cool place for tourism or to hang out and visit, it's also quite a nice place to photograph. I've gotten the chance to take some shots while my friends were bugging me to leave, but it's still a must go to place for photographers no matter their skill level. Make sure to have a tripod in hand, and, if needed, a shutter release button. Other than that, become cr...
Paddle Mannington Meadow
Paddle out into the winding tributaries of Mannington Meadow, paddle past tall reeds, and plenty of wildlife!
Access is a small lot capable of fitting roughly 15 cars at the end of the road. There is a concrete ramp, however due to low water levels paddle craft are best used. Once you get on the water turn left to head up on the of the inlets, or turn right for more inlets or to make it out to ...
Hike the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail
If you are going to tour Northern Delaware, look no further than the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail. This ~12 mile route links some of the best sites and attractions in the region including Bellevue State Park, Wilmington State Park, Brandywine Creek State Park, Brandywine Zoo, and Rockford Park. Hike by two historic estates, the Brandywine River, the dramatic rock walls of Alapocas Run State...
Hike the White Trail in Ridley Creek State Park
The white trail is the only true loop hike in the park. Strangely enough, it has no official trailhead. You can gain access to the trail from either Pavilion/picnic are #9 or Pavilion/picnic area #16. I chose picnic area #9 and hiked in a clockwise direction. This section starts very close to and follows Ridley Creek. You do have access to Ridley Creek for a short distance where there is a side...
Hike Brandywine Park Loop
It’s a great spot for a quick run or hike. If you want to extend your time outdoors after you’ve completed the loop, there are other trails to choose from as well. The park is dog friendly, but all dogs must be leashed.
Many enjoy this park for its scenic river and bridge views. The well-tended rose garden is also a major plus. It’s the perfect place to escape the city sidewalks for a little....
Rocky Run Loop Trail at Brandywine Creek State Park
The Rocky Run Trail is a 3.2-mile loop through Brandywine Creek State Park in Wilmington, Delaware. The trail has some nice views of the Brandywine River and the surrounding forest. There are some rocky areas of mild elevation, so be prepared.
The trail is not well marked, and there are many offshoots of the main trail. I recommend downloading an offline map of the area.
