The Docks of Beauty
Essex, Montana
Description

If you haven't made it to Seeley lake in your entire existence then you, you are missing out greatly. Seeley Lake and the river behind the lake which is where these photos were taken on is absolutely stunning to be in the presence of. Sunsets are slower than anything you've ever seen before with some of the prettiest colors that probably don't have superficial names like 'eggshell white' yet. The river is calm, quiet and ethereal, it in the summer is covered from end to end in beautiful white lilies. The start of the Mission Mountains are in the background, the air is crisp and smells like the idea a Febreze scent artist would freak over. On both sides the forest is thick, dense, green, and full of wildflowers for miles and if you're lucky and have a keen eye you'll maybe see some elk, some moose, some cranes and some other beautiful creatures. This area is absolutely stunning in every aspect.
Start heading towards Seeley Lake, and Seeley, MT. Which is in the North Western area of Montana. Once in Seeley towards the Southern end there is a green gas station, and behind that there is a yellow off putting food store, the place you need to turn in order to get to the "Clearwater River" is right in-between the gas station and the food store. There is a huge wooden square looking object depending on which way you are coming from on the left, or the right, and it has wooden slates hanging by string with names on each slate. There are about 50-70 names hanging on this. That is where you will want to turn. The road is easy to follow, don't turn off onto another road, just keeping following it until you get to a bridge that will lead you to the river. This is the spot behind Seeley Lake that the above pictures were taken. The only draw back is that all the docks, houses, and pieces of land besides the river are all privately owned. So, if you want to get a good shot don't be afraid to bring a kayak or a paddle boat or a pair of swim trunks to get into the water (unless you like skinning dipping). Like I said before the river is about 2 miles long and will lead you to the West side of the lake. That 2 miles is absolutely worth it. The whole area is breathtaking.
