Hiking Empire Bluff Trail

Michigan Empire Bluff Trailhead

Added by The Outbound Collective

Hike to great views of the Sleeping Bear Dunes Shoreline from the bluffs above Lake Michigan.

This moderately hilly boardwalk hike takes you to scenic viewpoints above Lake Michigan. The Sleeping Bear Dunes do not fail to impress, particularly at sunset.

How to Get There

Incredible views

If you're looking for a quick little hike with an outstanding view, the Bluff trail is the way to go. At the end, you'll be more than 300 feet above Lake Michigan, with views of the Manitou Island, South Bar Lake, and Platte Point (but no sight of Wisconsin).

Michigan / Yondota Falls Trailhead

Outside of Marenisco, MI, take Cty Rd 523 north of town. The trailhead is just north of the bridge over Presque Isle River, hidden away in the trees. We missed it our first pass over the bridge.
