My Favorite Road-Running Shoe

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 rocks a new flashy design in addition to a more evolved build, making it a force to be reckoned with.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18

Women’s Road Running Shoes

MSRP: $120

Weight: 8.6 ounces

Support: Support, Cushion

Arch: Flat-Medium

I tested these kicks out in the dry, but sometimes powdery Western states (mainly Co, and UT). At first glance, they’re pretty light. There’s a really nice amount of cushioning, which is ideal for road-running. The middle of the shoe is a little bit narrower than I was expecting. But they're really sleek.

Pros: The Adrenaline GTS 18s are very comfortable and impressively light.

Cons: Although these running shoes are being marketed as a shoe that would accommodate flat to medium arches, I would not recommend this shoe to someone with medium arches. It seems to be on the low end of that spectrum.

What’s New With the Adrenaline GTS 18s?

The Adrenaline GTS 18 offers extra flexibility and softer cushioning  compared to earlier version of this shoe. They're aesthetically different, and implement a smoother transition from the midsole to the support.

Why opt for this type of shoe?

If you mainly road-run, the Adrenaline GTS 18 is a really nice, cushy shoe. Trail runners tend to rock more intense tread and more durable mesh. Road-raunners tend to have more basic tread that compliments static motion over dynamic motion. So unless you're intending to take on gnarly terrain, road runners will do the trick.

Comfort:

I’ve tested out a lot of different shoes over the last couple of years and I have yet to find a shoe that’s as comfortable as Brooks’s products. Brooks consistently brings running to the next level in terms of comfort and support. The Adrenaline GTS 18s are no exception to that standard.

Reliability and Durability:

These shoes have seen over a 100 miles of road running, and they don't show any signs of ware yet.

Fit and Sizing:

In my experience, they’re true to size. But the width of this particular model is a little narrower than expected. And the arch is on the low side of the spectrum.

According to other reviewers:

These shoes received 4.4 Stars. Most of those reviewers say that the width and sizing is a little off. But they're VERY comfortable.

Weight:

This shoe is pretty light in comparison to other products.

Price:

$120-140 is pretty standard for a well-built pair of running shoes. While that’s certainly not cheap, it’s an important investment to make if you’re looking to spend a lot of time on your feet.

Are the Adrenaline GTS 18s right for you?

If you’re someone with a low arch and narrow feet, this shoe could be a great fit for you. The great thing about Brooks’s line of products is that they’re engineered for very specific types of feet. So if you don't fit the "low arch and narrow feet" description, they likely have a shoe that'll fit your feet perfectly, while maintaining their high standards in terms of comfort and durability.

Final Thoughts about the Adrenaline GTS 18s:

As someone with high arches and narrow feet, finding a pair of shoes that supports my arch comfortably has always been a challenge for me. While I would've like to have seen a little more support, Brooks consistently engineers a truly impressive running shoe and I'll happily continue to rock these kicks.
