Description

Added by Gabriella Lorusso

Cane Bayou is a waterway that flows into Lake Pontchartrain with lots of wildlife, and at the end of the route the bayou opens up into the lake where there is a nice spot to get out and go wadding in the lake. It is the last undeveloped bayou in Louisiana.

There are different routes you can take.

The shorter 3 hour round trip: you go to the right of the launch and follow the main path until you reach the lake.

The longer route that you can explore that takes you through the trees and swamp to discover more wildlife.

Canoe and Trail Adventure Tours is a family owned and operated tour group that will show you around the bayou and teach you about the wildlife and history. If you are not familiar with Louisiana, I highly recommend them.

There are no bathrooms once you reach the launch site, which is off of Hwy 190, so make sure you go before you get there.
