Tomahawk Creek Trail is an 18.2 mile out and back hike located near Leawood, Kansas that features a waterway, wooded sections, and budding wildflowers along a paved trail.

This trail is great for all skill levels and is perfect for a range of activities including hiking, biking, and running since it's nicely paved and flat. These conditions make it wheelchair and stroller accessible, but note that the trail does have a steep section after roughly 8.2 miles heading west. This trail connects to the Indian Creek Trail.

Tomahawk Creek Trail is both family and kid friendly. There are playgrounds along the way as well as restrooms. There’s also plenty of green space for picnics to take a mid-hike break. Dogs are welcome too as long as they are kept leashed.

The trail is accessible year round. Parking is available at Tomahawk Park off W. 119th Street and I-Lan Park off Nall Avenue. If you’re looking for an easy, yet scenic outdoor activity, this is the spot. Enjoy a peaceful solo bike ride or a walk with family and friends.

Hike Tomahawk Creek Trail Reviews

A really easy paved trail to walk/run/bike on. It follows a small creek that you can access at some points and it crosses state line (missouri/kansas). It also passes through city parks. It is important to say that one should be careful on this trail as the homeless do use areas as campsites and they do get territorial and violent. You are never very far away from the road if you need to make a get away.
