Sawtooth Campground via Chestnut Knob Trail

We started our trip with a hike to High shoals falls. We did the loop which was about 2.7 miles round trip. We headed back to the car, gathered our gear and hit the trail. We decided to start at the Little River trail from the Hemlock Nature Trail parking lot, then took the Upper CCC trail to Sawtooth Trail which led us to the Sawtooth campsite. This ended up being about 4 miles total. **Watch out for rattlesnakes, we came across one on the trail and thankfully he gave us by a warning or we would have walked right over him.** When we arrived it opened up to a beautiful field of wildflowers! There are 3 campsites and we were the only ones there that night. The next morning we packed up and decided to head to the Chestnut Knob overlook before heading back down on the Chestnut Knob trail. Don’t skip the overlook! The trip back to the parking lot was about 3.6 miles.
