Short Sands Beach Oregon

So beautiful and so easy

By: Joseph Gallivan + Save to a List

My friend and I took a stroll through the Enchanted Forest of Doug Firs covered in moss with fallen hemlock blocking streams on the way to Short Sands Beach. The beach was wide and empty, with no surfers, probably because it was January. The surf was wild, the rock formations epic. There were almost horizontal trees where cliffs had broken away. A creek spilled down over rocks onto the beach like a waterfall. The low clouds brushed amongst the tops of the conifers on the surrounding mountains except where there was a giant clear-cut. The walk back was easy and then it was just 20 minute drive to Cannon Beach.
