Description

Wadi Rum is an incredibly beautiful, isolated, and serene landscape. Ancient cave drawings, Lawrence of Arabia's house, and geological formations bring the unique history of this area into the present.

Wadi Rum (Valley of the Moon in Arabic) is a desert valley cut into sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan. Red sands and craggy granite peaks cover the desert and visitors can discover cave drawings preserved from ancient peoples as well as Lawrence of Arabia's house. The desert is very sparsely populated by locals and tourists alike.

Starting at Wadi Rum Village, you can pay Bedouin men to drive you through the scenic desert by jeep or pay to ride a camel through the desert for a couple of hours (easier to do in a group). Sand-boarding is also an option as is hiking; however, better to hike with a guide as many areas are pretty isolated.
