Lanikai beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Escape the crowds in Waikiki and enjoy great views of the surrounding, smaller islands offshore.

During the weekdays the beach is relatively empty, but on weekends during peak tourist season it can become extremely crowded. Lanikai is a popular spot for photo shoots as renowned models and photographers frequent the place on nice days. Due to its position on the east side of the island, Lanikai is recognized as being great place to watch the moonrise over the Mokuluas, especially during the full moon. This is definitely a place to come, and if you can surf while you're here, icing on the cake!

Lanikai Beach Reviews

One of my favorite beaches in Hawaii! The only downfall is that it can get super crowded during the tourist season and on the weekends. Go on the weekdays when it’s less crowded. If you do score a parking space plan to spend the whole afternoon there. The waters are crystal clear and the sand is so soft, you’ll just want to lay on it without a towel. Pure bliss!

I've been a handful of times. Windy days it's nice to just walk the beach because laying out was not an option. Beautiful water, soft sand, great views. Parking lot is busy of weekends and tourist season, but I never had to circle more than twice to get a spot, lots of movement in and out. I've also rented kayaks from up the road and kayaked out to the nearby islands which is an awesome way to spend an afternoon!

Super popular beach in Kailua. It's knowsn for it's white sand and clear waters, but if you want to avoid the crowd, try going to kaneohe

This beach was beautiful and so gets very crowded. The water is super clear! The only downside is there is a local who tends to walk through the beach looking for unattended belongings. He walked around near out things for a while before thinking it was safe to grab one of our backpacks. Luckily we were pretty closeby and were able to run out of the water right as he started to pick it up. His excuse was that he thought it was his...

I was fortunate enough to stay within walking distance to this beach when I came here for vacation. It wasn't super crowded and the water is insanely beautiful. I spent several days relaxing here. Great views!

Gorgeous white sand beach. Epic colors in the water. Parking can be tough though.
