Description

The hike to Anna Ruby Falls is along a short, paved trail following a rushing creek to a pair of two beautiful waterfalls located in North Georgia.

The hike to Anna Ruby Falls located in the Chattahoochee National Forest, bordering and often mistaken for being located in Unicoi State Park, begins at the Anna Ruby Falls Visitor Center. There is a $3 per person fee (16 years and under are free) to access the parking lot of the visitor center and to the falls. Once at the parking lot, the visitor center has restrooms, refreshments and good information about both the falls and the area. There are picnic tables and several locations to access the creek that flows down from where the falls are located.

The trailhead to Anna Ruby Falls is to the left of the visitor center and is a paved ½ mile, out and back trail and although it is mostly uphill to the two viewing decks in front of the falls, the hike is still easy and enjoyable. The hike parallels beautiful Smith Creek the entire way (the two separate creeks that create the two waterfalls making up Anna Ruby Falls both merge into Smith Creek at the foot of the waterfalls). Smith Creek is full of large boulders that create aesthetic rapids along a majority of the hike, creating a very serine atmosphere.
