Awesome time canoeing down the Ocklawaha River. Perfectly describes Old Florida. You are away from highways and city chaos. Lots of wildlife, even MONKEYS!

Water is perfectly clear near Silver Springs and drop-in spot, but the black mud further down the river and away from the spring causes visibility in water to go down. Gators, turtles, fish, and even monkeys are everywhere. 72-mile long river, but average 2 day trip is 12 miles with current at your advantage. Beautiful opportunities for Florida wildlife photos and adventures.

Ocklawaha River Reviews

If you want to find a great 2-day canoeing trip, this is the place. A group of friends and I went down this river which connects to Silver Springs and the Saint Johns River. If you have a little extra time you can travel upstream and check out Silver Springs, which has pristine water. While you are traveling down the river, you will see abundant wildlife, such as birds, turtles, alligators, and yes, even monkeys. There is a fun cliff jump that has a rope swing attached which makes this place even more amazing. If you want to experience Old Florida and hang out with friends, this is the place!
