Simple Guide to Help You Pack for Your New Zealand Adventure

New Zealand is a country where you can ski one day and surf later on in the week. It is the kind of place that can stun you in a few hours and transform you in a week. All this is possible because of its diverse climate, which also makes it important that you pack accordingly. This guide will help you with that task.

Waterproofing is Vital

Part of what makes New Zealand road trips so exciting is their unpredictability. The country's weather definitely adds to that unpredictability, especially when driving near the beaches where the ocean grazes the sands with the serenity only the water can bring.

Some of these images are so arresting that you are going to want to photograph each moment, but the weather might spring up on you at any time. The thing you want to worry about is rain, so make sure that your cameras, phones, and other electronics are protected from water.

A Portable Charger is Going to be Useful

You probably have a New Zealand-friendly power adapter to help you charge some of your electronics, but you are going to be on the road for some time. The road trips are going to take you away from the cities and towards several areas that few venture off to. This means you might need a portable charger from time to time to charge your electronics.

Some travelers get away with just using small portable chargers that hold enough power for one day, which should work for you, but it might be a good idea to have a few backups, especially if you are going to be venturing off during your trip. Make sure that you have enough chargers for your electronics, not just your phone.

Jet Lag Relief May be Necessary

Okay, those who have travel frequently may not be affected by jet lag as severely as others, so you probably can skip this step, but those who do not travel much are probably going to need jet lag relief. This relief is going to be helpful early on during your great New Zealand adventure.

The trip to New Zealand, especially from places like the US or even the UK is pretty long. Your body is going to need a lot of time to adjust to the change, and jet lag relief may help your body stabilize quicker. You do not want to be stuck in your hotel room longer than you need to when there is so much to explore. You can purchase natural jet lag relievers online or in your local sport supplement stores.

Plan for Stomach Relief, Just in Case

The cuisine in New Zealand is pretty interesting. For a while, the country was obsessed with food from other countries, which meant that most travelers could find food from their native land there but this is changing. Many New Zealanders are starting to focus on local foods. This means you are going to experience exotic tastes more often.

Of course, experiencing different tastes is part of what makes traveling exciting, but it can also cause some people to get sick at times. You should make sure you pack some activated charcoal to help get rid of any toxins your body was not expecting. This natural relief should help your stomach get back to normal and help you get use to the foods you might eat, including things like rewena or Maori bread made from fermented potatoes.

Pack a Natural Repellent for the Flies

Everyone expects a few mosquitoes, which are common insects that almost every region deals with. The good thing is mosquitoes usually only come out during the summer. The bad thing is New Zealand also has a healthy population of sand flies, which bite just the same, and these suckers are around all year.

You need to make sure you prepare for these bugs by packing a repellent that could help keep them away. What you want to do is find a repellent that contains natural ingredients that scare sand flies away, like lemon oil or eucalyptus. The scent is pleasant, so it should not bother you too much and should reduce your chances of you getting bit.

Hopefully, this guide helps prepare you for your New Zealand road trip adventure. Keep in mind that most people in this country dress casual, even in upscale restaurants, so do not pack a lot of dress clothes. This should free up some of your space for some of the items mentioned here.
