A spectacular hike to two beautiful lakes in a high alpine cirque in Rocky Mountain National Park. The distance gets you away from the crowds for solitude in a beautiful mountain setting with great views!
Starting at an elevation of 8,540', you head down the trail for only 0.3 miles to your first destination of Copeland Falls. At 1.8 miles you arrive at Calypso Cascades and at 2.7 miles you arrive at Ouzel Falls, all wonderful stopping points along the way to the lakes.
At 2.95 miles you come to a trail split for Thunder Lake. Take the fork to the left to continue to Ouzel Lake and Bluebird Lake.
After a short climb, you hike along a ridgewith the Ouzel Creek Drainage to the left (south) and the North St. VrainCreek Drainage to the right (north). The North St. Vrain Creek Drainage provides views of Mount Alice(13,310’) to the right and Pilot Mountain (12,222’) to the left. The Ouzel Creek Drainage provides views of Ouzel Peak (12,716')to the left and Mount Copeland (13,176’) to the right.
At 4.5 miles you arrive at the Ouzel Lake spur. Ouzel Lake is 0.5 miles on the spur to the left and Bluebird Lake is another 2 miles up the trail.
Bluebird Lake sits at an elevation of (10,978’).

If you love hikes to high alpine lakes, this is one to do! It's a long hike but offers variety with many features such as waterfalls and cascades and stunning views. It gets you away from the crowds as well the further up the trail you get.
