This is a gorgeous hike with beautiful scenery the entire way leading up to Hanging Lake falls just outside of Gunnison Colorado. You can even continue past the lake about 200 yards to find a natural fall coming straight from a cliff side called Spouting Rock Falls. The one down side to this is dogs are not allowed. Also the trail stays pretty busy so be patient with less experienced people.

This hike is fairly steep and a little over a mile long. Depending on your pace it will take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours to reach the lake. There are many benches and rocks to rest at and the trail is well shaded by dense wood. You will cross several bridges (I believe 5) before you reach a staircase complete with handrails and all. The staircase gives a great lookout to the canyon you began in the bottom of. Just after the stairs you will reach the lake. Approximatly 200 yards behind the falls at the lake lies Spouting Rock.
