Description

Added by Benjamin Cole

There are several places to stay overnight in Parque Tayrona. From any of four starting points you can enter this beautiful national natural park and hike to where you reserved a place to stay. Note: Spanish is required in order to reserve a hammock or ground space for a tent.

Starting at the Mercado in Santa Marta, take a bus ($1-2 USD) to the entrance of the park. Once at the park, be sure to reserve your hammock or tent space before watching the introductory video. Then you pay the entrance fee to the park and can either walk (at least an hour) or take a bus (another $1-2 USD) to the trailhead. This beautiful hike lasts about 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on your pace. The views are stunning even though it is blistering hot. Be sure to have water and sunscreen easily accessible during the trek.
