Hiking to Horseshoe Lake

This a great little lake that is hidden off the beaten path. The water was actually surprisingly warm to the touch (late-summer). Mosquitos were terrible the year we visited. The final approach up is very steep but worth it. A small herd of mountain goats lives in the area and are not shy so be prepared to shoo them away from your breakfast. Getting a permit to this area is easier than others in the enchantments. Most guests stay at the lower and larger Lake Stuart.
