Midnight Peak is a great shoulder season, first of the season hike/scramble. The views over Kananaskis and Nakiska are stunning and the trail itself is relatively straightforward with lots of scenery to enjoy most of the way.
Midnight Peak is located along highway 40 in Kananaskis. Park at the Porcupine Campground parking lot. Cross back over the highway and follow the signs/trail for Baldy Pass. Follow this trail all the way up to Baldy Pass. From here, follow a scree trail right. There are two routes from here. We followed the trail straight through the forest all the way to tree line. Watch for cairns and markers. Once out of the trees, it is a straight scree slog to the top. There is a ridge to explore at the top and beautiful views of the foothills and the rockies. Follow the same route down. Roundtrip time 5 hours.
