Explore Stave Lake

Route Type

Added by Tara Stamnes

Explore Stave Lake in Mission, BC. A beautiful backroad will take you to a hidden BC gem.

Drive up the Florence Lake Service Road in Mission to find an oasis of lakes and free camping spots. There are several trails in the area you will come across on your drive and this area is great for exploring in the backcountry while still not too far off the beaten track.

On your way up you will pass by a few smaller lakes with their own campgrounds including Devil's lake and Sayres lake. These are great options if you are staying a few nights and want to explore more than one area.

Past these smaller lakes, you will eventually reach the flats of Stave itself, where you can camp, have a fire (always do your research before lighting a fire), and explore.

Along your way you will come across ATVers, BMXers and mountain bikers, always be wary of others on the road. This is a rough gravel road and it is highly recommended you have a high clearance and/or 4x4 vehicle. Do not attempt to go on the mud flats at Stave without a 4x4 - this is a common tow truck stop.
