Description

Easy hike starting in a forest and leading to breathtaking panoramic viewsRocky shoreline vistas and a historic lighthouse

The Lighthouse Trail begins near the Killarney Mountain Lodge. Park at the lodge and you will see a very obvious sign indicating the trailhead near some tall grass. This hike is 5km round trip and should take about 2.5 hours, depending on how long you stop to enjoy the views along the way.

The trail starts in some tall grass that leads to a forest opening up to panoramic views of Georgian Bay with vultures soaring above. From here you descend the rock shield and hike along the expansive shoreline until you reach the lighthouse. There are some steep areas and you should be careful if it has rained recently (the rocks can be slippery). The trail is well marked (keep an eye out for yellow areas on the rock shield).

This is definitely a hike that you'll want to bring a lunch and maybe even some playing cards and spend the afternoon enjoying the view.
