This is probably one of my favorite hikes to do. The 3 hour hike may seem long and endless, but trust me the view at the end is worth it.
The hike starts off with the first lake that is easily accessible from the parking lot. Once you come across the first lake, turn left along the path that will lead you to a bridge following the trail. 5 minutes into the hike, the trail will start to head uphill and continue to the forest. About 20 minutes, a boulder field can get a little challenging because of its enormous rock. So be careful and watch your step.
If you run out of water, don't worry because you'll come across natures own water fountain that generates water from the stream. It's probably the most refreshing water I've tasted.
Continue along the trail and you'll eventually see the middle lake. It's turquoise water will blow your mind! It's so surreal that it looks like a backdrop. There is a log on the lake that you can walk on. This would be the perfect spot for an Instagram picture. Right next to it, there is a rope that you can swing from and jump into the water. Be careful though, the water is extremely cold, so be prepared to freeze your butt off.
20 minutes past the Middle Joffre Lake, you will start to see the Upper Joffre Lakes emerge with the glacier. At this point, you can choose to stay and enjoy your snack or keep hiking to the base of the galcier.
Enjoy your time and take a lot of pictures.
