Jack Creek Meadow

The Jack Creek Meadow Loop in Daley Ranch, Escondido, California, is a moderately challenging 5.8-mile trail favored by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The trail begins with a steep ascent on a paved road leading to the historic Daley Ranch House, then transitions into a dirt path that meanders through diverse habitats, including non-native grasslands and riparian oak woodlands. Along the way, visitors can enjoy scenic views of Middle Pond and the surrounding meadows. The trail is open year-round and welcomes dogs on leashes no longer than 6 feet.

Access to the trailhead is via La Honda Drive, where a free parking lot with restrooms is available. Additional parking is offered at Dixon Lake for a fee of $5 on weekends and holidays.

Daley Ranch operates daily from dawn to dusk. Visitors are required to adhere to the following regulations:

• Stay on designated marked trails.

• All plants and animals are protected; hunting or collecting is prohibited.

• Possession of firearms or weapons is prohibited.

• Private motorized vehicles are not permitted within the preserve.

• Fires, fishing, swimming, and overnight camping are not allowed.

• Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times.

• Visitors must pack out all trash.

• Mountain bikers shall yield to hikers and equestrians; hikers shall yield to equestrians.

• Alcohol and smoking are prohibited.
