This is an incredible hike for when you need to escape the daily grind and only have a day to do it.

Starting out at Centerpoint trailhead, it's a 6 mile round trip hike. The first 1/2 mile or so is flat through a lovely field of wild daisies and a few hidden lookout points. I would suggest starting out around 10, then you can make it to a nice little lunch spot by noon, and make it back to your car by 3 or 4pm.

The next two miles are a steep downgrade on a wide, rocky trail. Very rough on the knees and ankles so wear good hiking boots! I survived wearing Chacos but I would not recommend it. I did appreciate how shaded this part of the trail was, since it was the middle of the summer and the middle of the day. I never felt too hot!

From then on you begin to level out & start hiking on the bluffs but still in the woods. After not too long there are a few big carved spots that are great places to stop and eat lunch. After lunch you can crawl through the tiny, little space (or if your claustrophobic, you can go down and around and skip it).

Then all of the sudden, just around the corner BOOM! You are on Big Bluff and you instantly stop everything that you are doing. The view of the Buffalo River below is simply breathtaking. If you are feeling adventurous, you can keep hiking just beyond Big Bluff and set up a hammock and really relax while enjoying the view.

Now, remember those 2 miles down hill.... yeah you're going to have go back up them. We made it up just 30 minutes more than it took us to get down. The trick is to just keep going. We only stopped for a few minutes at a time get water and that was it. Again the shade is much appreciated considering you will probably be here around 2pm. If you like to mentally prepare yourself, there's about 2 little hills & 3 big ones, then you reach that beautiful, glorious field full of daisies.

We ate dinner at a cute little cafe in downtown Harrison, and enjoyed the golden hour drive back home.

I would recommend this to anyone in the surrounding area who needs a little getaway!
