The drive from the interstate to the trail head isn’t to bad. A few stream crossings. When arriving at lake a lot of goat trails and snow in July. There are 3-4 camping spots on one side of lake and on the other side of lake there are 5-6 spots. There are goats around the far side of the lake that attacked/charged dogs and people. Just make sure to practice goat safety so you don’t ruin it for everyone. Keep your distance from wild animals. Extremely peaceful alpine lakes in the great burn. The hike form heart to pearl lake was easy. There are only two spots or at least enough for two tents at pearl lake. Couldn’t make it to Dalton lake due to snow. There are also a lot of streams for water at heart lake. Make sure not to pee in your campsite due to that goat will definitely like the salty pee.

The drive/road to diamond like is a little tight. Make sure to honk around driving corners or just pay attention. A lot of cigarette butts around cliff lake. There seems to be a hike around cliff lake but it’s extremely overgrown. Please don’t leave plastic dog bags up on trail. Pack in pack out your dog shit! Otherwise beargrass was everywhere but you couldn’t hike off trail. It’s definitely 1.0 mile from diamond to cliff lake.
