I attempted to do this the first week of June and the snow proved too much. I made it halfway up the switchbacks, but with a dog and the snow, it proved too much. It didn't help that only 2 of 10 people I crossed paths with that day said they made it to the lake.

I hiked it and it calculated as closer to 8.5 miles round trip. Definitely tons of mountain bikers but definitely a good hike as well!

I missed the aspens by a week or two, but it was still a great fall hike with some early dustings of snow higher up. The permit spot moved perhaps because it was definitely a mile or so in. The initial ascent slowly levels off and the remainder of the hike is pretty easy. I would definitely come do this one again next fall!

Unfortunately I missed the aspens by just about a week or so, but still an okay hike. I did the loop backwards but was still able to find my way relatively easily. Make sure to stay on the road initially, walk/bike 3ish miles to the tank where the baker tank trail is located off to the left. An easy hike, good for beginners.

Tons of mountain bikers on the weekend, most likely due to being such a quick drive from the city. Relatively unchallenging hike. Would definitely recommend doing the lion's head loop that is right by the falls overlook.

I came out mid-morning on a Monday and was able to find a spot easily. I camped with a great view of the mountains in a spot that would've been great for a large group. The ATV trail was a bit noisy, but tolerable. The road was easy to access and I had no trouble in terms of the terrain with my Jeep. I would definitely go back!
