This 3.6-mile hike in the middle of Sequoia National Park leads to a 1,200-ft waterfall.
A 3.6-mile roundtrip hike to a 1,200-ft waterfall? Yes, please. Tokopah Falls makes the best-of list for Sequoia National Park as it’s a gentle, quick and scenic stroll to an enormous waterfall. The trailhead begins in the Lodgepole Campground. Don’t worry – there’s day-use parking.
The trail follows the stream through a Jeffery Pine forest dappled with granite boulders. Keep your eyes peeled for yellow-bellied marmots scurrying between the rocks. After a mile and half or so, the trail comes out into a valley with sweeping views to the side of the Watchtower, 1,600-foot cliff, and Tokopoh Falls. Continue on up to the base of the waterfall and watch the water cascade over the granite.
