Spectacular sunrise views of the most dynamic Basin in Yellowstone.
I had a spectacular 11 day adventure this summer, that featured 3 days of camping in Yellowstone National Park. I had never been there, nor had I ever camped outside by myself and Canyon Village was the perfect start.
Camping at Canyon Village campground, which is smack-dab in the middle of the park, afforded me a prime starting point for my daily explorations and you can find reservations here. Each morning I was up at sunrise, ready to discover all the natural beauty of the park. It also helped that the night temp dropped to 32 degrees, which was awesome.
My 2nd morning I was up and anxious for my drive to Mammoth Hot Springs and stumbled upon the Norris Geysers, just off Hwy. 89 on the westside of the park. Having no knowledge of this spectacular geyser, I almost kept driving, thinking it's probably just one simple geyser, spouting a moderate plume of smoke. Boy was I completely wrong!
I walked the 100 or so feet down the path and was awestruck with what revealed itself. I ended up spending close to an hour there, traveling the different basin pathways and looking for that perfect shot - knowing that a mere picture could not capture the mystic aura of this magnificent geological event.
That said, I hope you enjoy the few shots I included here.
