Evergreen Mountain Lookout Night Hike

Leavenworth, Washington

Description

Added by Hali Kippola

Beautiful Views in a few short miles and elevation.(You can also rent out the lookout for overnights!)

We started our adventure pretty late on a Friday night, it was already dark by the time we hit the road off the highway to get to the trail head. The drive was a bit steep and dusty down the forest roads with some serious drop offs. We stopped at a ledge along the way and got some amazing night shots. When we finally reached the trail head, miles after dusty miles, it was marked with a small sign with not much room to park. Just passed the signs though, was a larger area to park.

We started our accent, and it was steep. The first .6 miles seems pretty tough, but the views, even at night, kept us trucking along. After the incline, we reached a more wooded area that was less intense and climbed a little more steady. After hitting a field full of what would have been flowers if it was spring, we saw the look out above.

The view from all angles was breathtaking, even in the dark. The stars and the moon lit up the whole sky and we got some great shots.

Round trip is about 2.8 miles with a 1425ft gain.

Driving Directions:From Everett, drive east on highway 2 for 50 miles, turning left onto the Beckler River Road. Proceed along this road for about 12.5 miles to a five-way intersection (the road becomes gravel at 7 miles). At the intersection, take the right hand fork signed Forest Road 6550, and proceed one mile to another intersection. Turn left, and drive to the trailhead, 9.5 miles along, at the end of the road.
