Hike to Point Wilson
This trail offers amazing views of Mt. Baker, Vancouver Island, the San Juan Islands, and the Cascade Mountains. The Point Wilson trail is located in Fort Worden State Park on the Olympic Peninsula, along the Strait of Juan De Fuca. The trail is 2.5 miles round trip, and is accessible regardless of the tide. The picnic tables at the lighthouse make for a perfect lunch spot.
Hike Ebey's Landing
Just walk straight past the restroom to find the start of the trail route. The Bluff trail heads up a set of stairs to the top of the hillside on the right. After climbing the stairs, you come right up on farmland (Ebey's Prairie), with a grassy two-track trail leading up toward the top of the bluff. Be sure to turn around, because on clear days you can see Mt. Baker in the distance. Past this ...
Mount Townsend
There are four trailheads that guide you to the top of Mount Townsend, but the most popular choice is to begin at the Upper Trailhead Trail #839 (snow permitting).
The trail gradually climbs while traversing through forested area. While walking through the fir and hemlock trees, you pass three gurgling stream gullies that are wonderful places to cool off or grab some water. Soon after, you br...
Hike Falls View Canyon
This hike is located immediately off of Highway 101 in the Falls View Campground. If the campground is closed you can park right outside of the gate (but don't block it) and hike in. Inside the gate you will see 3 paths in front of you, take a left and after about a quarter mile you will reach the trail head. There are actually two trail options here. I recommend hiking the option on the right ...
Hike to Mt. Walker North & South Viewpoints
Directions: From the Quilcene Ranger Station drive 4.6 miles south on US 101. Watch for the signs for Mount Walker View Point. Turn left onto Mount Walker Road. The trail head is about a quarter mile up the road with pull over parking on the left side of the road. In the winter and early spring, the road is closed and gated very close to US 101. Park near the gate and walk the road to the trail...
Buckhorn Mountain
The climb to Buckhorn Mountain above Marmot Pass is a must see for every PNW adventurer with the endurance to tackle nearly 14 miles and 4,400 feet of gain. Listen to the rushing waters of the Big Quilcene River as the trail gently traverses up 5.5 miles to Marmot Pass. Be sure to filter water at Camp Mystery, just below the final climb to Marmot Pass. This is the last water source until you...
