5 Miles Round Trip - 1200 ft gain - Loop Trail

Iller Creek Trailhead - Search Nearby - Added by Rose Freeman

Hike a loop through a pine, beech, birch, and larch forest along Iller Creek and see Spokane Valley's "Big Rocks"! Total mileage: 5.0 miles, loop. Elevation gain: 1200 ft. Highest point: 3200 ft.

Iller Creek hike leads you on a 5 mile loop through lush shaded forest to a ridge with excellent views of the Eastern Washington Palouse. I love the variety of trees through the forest on this hike! Half way through the hike you reach the Big Rocks (Rocks of Sharon) which is a popular rock climbing destination! Continue on through the loop back through a birch forest. I like to hike this loop counter-clockwise up along the creek and down across the ridge! This is one of my favorite hikes in Spokane and is also an excellent snowshoe route in the winter!

A Hike With A Little Of Everything Along The Way

This was such a neat hike, started out counterclockwise in the lush green forest, made a decent climb up to the lookout/big rocks where you can spend a few hours there alone just exploring the big rocks and views from every angle of the stunning Palouse. The last half of the loop was more in the dry territory feeling almost desert-ish on a 90 degree day. Views on the decent were gorgeous of the Spokane Valley and mountains. Definitely plan on going back!

Spokane's Best

One of my favorite spots in Spokane to relax. Great views at Big Rock, climbing, places to hammock all set for a good day. Fun in summer and in the snow.

One Of The Best In Spokane

This loop makes for a great run, hike, mountain bike, snowshoe, or xc ski! Also you can rock climb at the Rocks of Sharon if you want. There's also access to the climbing from the Palouse Hwy.
