Description

Added by Holly Weiler

Fishtrap Loop is still a work in progress as of winter 2015, but it will eventually be an eight-mile loop trail just west of Spokane on BLM land, open to hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers.

Fishtrap Recreation Area, BLM land west of Spokane, Washington, consists of approximately 7,000 acres of public land. Beginning on National Public Lands Day 2015, WTA has to-date hosted four volunteer work parties at Fishtrap Lake. Watch for more beginning in the spring of 2016, then sign up here to join in on the fun. We're currently a little over a mile into an eight-mile round-trip proposed trail, so there will be many opportunities to get involved moving forward.

The area is also currently accessible for hikers and horseback riders. Mountain bikers may find the going a little rough until the trail is complete. It's a popular hunting area during local hunting seasons, and Fishtrap Lake is planted with rainbow trout each year. A Fish & Wildlife access permit is required for those using the boat launch, but no parking permits are required for hikers, equestrians, or mountain bikers.
