My parents, brother, husband & I set out to hike in North Bend early on Saturday morning. We arrived at the trail at 8:00AM with 4″ of snow covering the ground. It continued to snow until 9:00AM.
The trail was manageable ascending with just an inch or two of snow, no ice. At the top the clouds cleared and allowed us to see the view of the Snoqualmie Valley and Mt. Si. It was a bit windy at the top but we stayed warm in the cover of the trees. We enjoyed coffee and lunch before heading down!
The trail descending was a little slick but the traction of our boots was enough. I would recommend crampons later this week as it remains cold and the snow melts. Beautiful day for a hike!
