Beautiful Alpine LakeDistance: 7 miles round tripElevation Gain: 2,000ft
I know I probably say this every time but, such a beautiful hike! Perfect day to go up to the lake. We didn't get a chance to go up to the falls but it is definitely on my list. After getting a glimpse of the falls we hiked down to another waterfall that had a little pond underneath. Our friend came hiking with us and brought his dog who loved the pond.
After that it was basically up up up! There were quite a few families on the trail but everyone was nice and even stopped to talk a little. There were no trail issues that our party had a problem with at all. Just the amount of switchbacks were a bit brutal for awhile until you got used to them.
Right before you reach the top there is another waterfall into a little pond. It was so beautiful and right after that you could see the peaks plain as day like you were on top of the mountain. Which I personally think at that point we pretty much were.
We saw Lunch Rock for a sec but ended up going further and hiking to a little spot near the end of the lake where we had lunch. The peaks reflected into the water beautifully. We saw a couple of small trout in the lake as well.
On the way back we stopped at Lunch Rock. There were a lot of people but there was a good vibe. A guy playing guitar on the side, people just laughing and having a wonderful time. A couple of people jumped in the lake from the rock which to me would have been freezing but it did look tempting.
After that we went to the viewpoint were you basically see where the waterfall begins as well as the Cascades and Skykomish. The weather was perfect so you could see everything. We decided too dip our feet in the water and just relax for about an hour before heading back. I would love to come back here in late summer and jump from the rock myself.
