Description

This is the most beautiful, full 360 degree, mountain range view that you could ever ask for! I spent the night at the Sahalee Arm lookout, but this trip could easily be an out-and-back trip done in a day. Only 2 hours from Seattle!

Begin by following the Cascade Pass trail. From Cascade Pass, the trail heads north where you are surrounded by shrubs and wildflowers as well as a population of marmots. As you continue you will crest over Cascade Pass and see Sahale Mountain and its huge glacier.

Mountain goats will entertain you as you clear the trees and become exposed to the elements. The Sahale Arm camp spot is the highest elevation camp site in Washington and the elements here are unforgiving! There are a few flat camp spots surrounded by circular walls of rocks to keep the wind out (the nights are very windy!). There is no shade to be had here though. After setting up camp, there is much to explore around the camp sites, small pools of water (some still and warm, others flowing and freezing cold) and amazing views. Water is available to filter as well.
