Beautiful sunsets, riparian coastal forest, and wildlife.

I took a quick 3 miles on the southern trail out of the Ozette lake trail head to get to the beach. Recent rain made the boardwalk quite slick, and I barely managed to keep a solid footing in some places. Once on the beach at sand point, just to the south is a large rock that you should take the time to climb up and take in the view or watch the sunset.

I had time for another 3 miles up the coast before sunset, so I booked it up to cape Alava and set up camp just in time to enjoy the picturesque sunset over Ozette Island and a beer or two sitting comfortably in my hammock.

The next morning I took a leisurely day hike up the coast towards Ozette river, but the tide kept me from getting all the way there.

Back at Cape Alava I grabbed my backpack and headed back to the trailhead via the northern trail to Ozette lake.
