For mountain views and a peak into the backcountry, Hawksbill mountain is the perfect hike for you!
I've done this particular hike 3 times and counting. This is a hike I continue to come back to because of the incredible views and enjoyable trails. The 2.9 mile round trip hike is best to do early in the morning, before the trails fill up.
Shenandoah is one of the less dog friendly parks, but the trails to Hawksbill Mountain allow our 4 legged friends. My most recent visit in June, my friend and I ran into a full size bear near the trailhead. The bear was uninterested in us but we were still very alert.
I've done this hike both in Winter and Summer and will definitely return again.
