Description

Biking across the country is the hardest physical and mental challenge I've ever done. That being said it is also one of the most rewarding experiences.- daily "road side" adventures ranging from hidden waterfalls, cave exploring, haybail photoshoots, cliff jumping, gravel parking lot naps, side hikes, flat tires, and local pie/icecream shops.- rewarding challenges consisted of being exhuasted, giving it your all, and knowing you'd make it someday, planning the journey in the first place, and solving random problems that came up unexpectedly- the people we met. I did it with a team of 33 people I had never met before. We all became best friends and really united as one team. I will also never forget some of the locals we met in the towns we rode through.

I did it through a program called Bike&Build. (bikeandbuild.org) to raise money and awareness for affordable housing. We started in VA beach and rode to Canon Beach, OR, over 4,000 miles away. I can't tell you how many feet of elevation we climbed but it certainly was a lot. For more information please see the website listed above. (I did the central route).

Bald Cypress Trail

Hike the Bald Cypress Trail

This is an easy hike that meanders a bit more than any of the other trails in the park. It is also the most diverse in what you will see. Hike the Osmanthus Trail

This loop hike is accessed from a short walk from the Bold Cypress Trail and the visitor center. There are no views along this trail but the what I enjoyed was the pine needle covered trail itself. The pine needles are like a soft carpet padding the trail. I enjoy trailing running this loop more than hiking but either can be done.
