Kick back on a sofa made of sandstone and enjoy a panoramic view of the sun setting over the Salt Lake Valley.
Because if its proximity to downtown Salt Lake, this is a great quick hike to do after work. Although it's short, it is fairly steep, climbing nearly 1000 feet in 1.25 miles. However, most people can do it without too much difficulty. This is a good family hike and allows dogs on leashes. Due to its popularity, this hike can get crowded - especially on weekends. It's also a popular spot for trail runners and paragliders. In the spring time, the hike is particularly beautiful because of the wildflowers growing along the trail. Keep an eye out for poison ivy. Be aware that during the day there is little to no shade, so bring plenty of water. The overlook features a stunning view of the valley, as well as couches, chairs, and foot-stools that have been constructed from the loose sandstone that scatters the ground. The best time of day to go is about an hour before sunset so you can catch a view of the sun setting over the Salt Lake Valley. Climbing back down can be a little precarious so be sure to have a flashlight if you are planning on staying for the sunset.
Directions:
There are many access points from the Bonneville Shoreline trail, but the most direct starting point begins on Colorow Road in Salt Lake City. From Foothill Drive, head East onto Wakara Way, then turn right onto Colorow Road. The trail head is on the east side of the street just north of the junction with Huntsman Way. Parking is available along the road.
The trail head will take you east through scrub oaks till you reach the Shoreline Trail. Turn right onto the trail and continue till you reach a fork in the road and bear left. You'll reach another fork where you turn left again. This trail will lead you north into George's Hollow. There are many junctions along the trail, but keep to the right and continue following the drainage of George's Hollow. After the first couple junctions, the trail is very easy to follow.

Hike the Living Room Reviews
There is multiple trails leading up to the living room so don't get hung up too much trying to find the right one. It is very heavily used so if you're looking for solace, look elsewhere. Went today and there were a few wildflowers in the beginning still.
