Hike to Goblin's Lair and Carmel Canyon
This beautiful, isolated hike also makes for a flexible route – very few places in Goblin Valley are off limits, allowing you to customize the adventure as much as you please.
The hike begins on a rapidly descending trail, heading into the heart of Goblin Valley State Park. After a quarter mile of steep descents, the trail levels and winds through the mysterious hoodoo formations.

Exploring Goblin Valley
Goblin Valley Can entertain you for 1 hour or 10. There are no established trails, so you are free to wander around the entire park. There are cliffs to climb, slot canyons to explore and hoodoos to discover. From the parking area, you descend about 100 feet into the valley. Once you are down there, the whole place is fairly flat unless you decide to climb on things. One of my favorite things to...
Camp at Goblin Valley
Goblin Valley State Park is in a rural section of southern Utah, but if you type it into Google Maps you will go straight there. There are awesome campsites within the park but they require reservations. If you didn't take the time to reserve a campsite, don't worry, there is plenty of BLM land right outside the park. The rangers are awesome there and they will give you a good idea of where to ...
Hiking Little Wild Horse Canyon & Bell Canyon Loop
The Little Wild Horse Canyon/Bell Canyon loop hike is a classic southern Utah experience. Little Wild Horse Canyon is the better of the two canyons, so if you can only do part of the hike do Little Wild Horse. If you're doing a loop of both, save the best for last and go up Bell Canyon and down Little Wild Horse. It is an easy hike with no major obstacles.
There is also plenty of camping nearb...
Photographing Dutchman's Arch
Duchman's Arch is visible from I-70 but ask anyone about it and they will look at you with a blank face. It's a great medium sized sandstone arch but getting there takes time and patience driving down sandy, rutted out, washboard roads. To get to the arch, take exit 131 and turn east. Follow the frontage road until it turns to dirt. From here, follow the main road and follow the old and sun cha...
Explore the Temple of the Sun & Moon and Glass Mountain
The temple of the sun and moon are accessed from Cathedral Rd. in Capitol Reef National Park, the road is a 4x4 high clearance vehical road. Upon arriving at the Temples which are called “monoliths”, the giant rocks protrude from the earth, and are something like a fine piece of art. This is a popular spot for photography that only about 10% of park visitors access.
Just to the right of the mon...
