Fossil Ridge Loop Trail is a 3.7 mile loop hike that takes you by a lake located near Cleburne, TX.

Driving along Redwood Highway you will see a parking area at the South Eel River Fork. Park here and then walk the very short distance to the section of river that is calm, cool, and inviting you to jump in. Pack a picnic and a beach umbrella and enjoy the natural beauty around you. 

The trail is used for hiking, trail running and snowshoeing. The last 30 minutes of your drive will be on a windy dirt road. 4WD is recommended. The trailhead on the top of the road features a fire lookout to explore off to the left, and the trail is on the right. 

Park in the lot off of Lakewood Drive (see map) to access the trail. This trail is good for all skill levels and is dog-friendly. 

Bring along your friends for this one – the park offers only group campsites, three in all, which can take a range of 15 to 35 people. The sites do not have water on site, but you can haul water from the main office. Rates run between $30 and $50 per night for NJ Residents ($60-100 for non-NJers). The Deer Canyon Loop Trail is an easy drive from Orange County and Newport Beach. In the spring, wildflowers are abundant along the trial. This is a favorite spot for trail runners, hikers, and mountain bikers. The trail is kept in great condition year-round and is very wide. There is very little shade along the trail, so bring extra water! There is a parking fee of $15. 

Park in the big lot off E Little Elm Trail Road (see map) to access the trailhead. Trail is accessible year round and is dog-friendly. 

Camel Back Trail is a loop trail where you may see local wildlife located near Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

Mingo Creek Paved Path is an out-and-back trail that takes you by a river located near Eighty Four, Pennsylvania.

Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT): Daggett Pass to Genoa Peak is an out-and-back trail where you may see beautiful wildflowers located near Stateline, Nevada.

The trail features a gorgeous river, and is enjoyable for all skill levels. Dogs are allowed to use this trail, but must be kept on leash.  Parking at Blue Hole Park is relatively easy. Once parked, head west down the river for about a quarter mile and you'll find some picnic tables and a pavilion area. 

Waxahachie Creek Hike and Bike Trail is a 7.6 mile out and back hike that takes you by a river located near Waxahachie, TX.

The Vista Knoll Loop is a .9 mile hike, accessible year round. Dogs are not allowed on this trail. The trail offers great views of Lake Travis, with good wildlife viewing opportunities.
