Exploring the Fairy Pools of Scotland

The fairy pools are located in the Isle of Skye in Scotland, UK. It is a 1.5 mile hike to see the first fairy pools. You can continue up the path toward the base of the Black Cullins to see more beautiful pools. The fairy pools can be seen from the trail but you can actually climb down into the ravine to see the crystal clear blue water up close and personal. The pools make a great swimming hole for any daring explorers willing to take a dip in the icy waters. If you forgo the swimming, the pools make for beautiful photos.

Park across the road in the forestry commissions lot. Walk across the road and you will begin a steep descent for about 164 feet. As you come to the bottom of the hill you will cross a small river. There are stepping stones to cross. The path will level out and there will be a random large boulder to the right that was left behind from the ice melting in the last ice age. The path will then take a slight incline (nothing substantial) and you will begin to walk alongside the river. You will have to cross one more river. This one will have very large rocks for stepping stones and be a little more difficult to cross than the initial river. You will now see the first fairy pool. Continue up the trail for even more breathtaking views every few yards.
