Description

A gorgeous hike through the Sipi coffee forests to view three massive waterfalls. Depending on the season and slipperiness of the slope, you might even be able to trek down to the base of the falls and swim in the Sipi River!

Sipi falls is about a 7-hour drive from Kampala and only 45 minutes from Mbale. The hike takes about three hours to complete (depending on weather and fitness level), and spans three waterfalls of the Sipi river. Solid hiking shoes are a must on this hike, as weather and narrow paths make the trail harder to navigate. When you arrive, local kids/teenagers will likely approach and offer to guide you on the hike. This gesture isn't a scam, and it would be considered impolite to refuse the hospitality. Even if you're typically a solitary hiker, take the opportunity to get to know your hosts and enjoy the experience. They can also provide expertise on the safest way to hike the falls. Bring along a couple hundred shillings to tip.
