A Photo Tour of Henry's Lake and Yellowstone National Park

Being a tourist isn't always so bad

By: Tylyn Hansen + Save to a List

I hate being a tourist, and I've never been more of a touristy tourist than last summer when I visited Yellowstone National Park during the 4th of July weekend. It wasn't ideal, and I was disappointed that I didn't get to spend as much time photographing as I would have liked, but the trip was invaluable, and my favorite one of 2016.

I was there for a reunion with my grandparents and some of my extended family. My grandparents own a little land near Henry’s Lake and they love to go camping there a couple times a year. They’re getting older and each year their health gets a little more fragile. At this point it’s not clear if they’ll be able to do much more camping, so I was extremely grateful to spend that time with them. I still came away with some great images, and I got to spend a few awesome days with some awesome people. What more could you ask for? Being a tourist isn't so bad all the time.
